WEF Nexus Policy Review of Four Mediterranean Countries

The Water–Energy–Food (WEF) nexus describes natural resource use in the context of social needs and economic development, addressing food, water, energy security. Population growth rising prosperity will increase demand for energy, water Mediterranean region, compromising sustainable resources. As governments are required to make decisions order cope with increasing demands resources, this paper performs a review legislation WEF policies, identifying main political institutional actors involved possible policy (in)coherence four MED countries located on two continents: Egypt, Italy, Spain, Tunisia. This choice allow identification barriers catalysts influencing implementation policies improve our understanding trade-offs synergies by exploring them national, regional, local scales.
